The island has countless gorgeous beaches where you can embrace the sun and swim in the beautiful crystal clear sea. In Okrug Gornji you can mingle in the crowd and try a local specialty at one of the numerous cafés and restaurants. The island also knows more quiet places like the fisherman village Slatine, the small town Arbanija or the south side of the island which is still quite uninhabited. As Čiovo is an extension of Trogir, it offers as well historical monuments like the St. John the Baptist chapel from the 17th century, a Dominican convent from the 15th century and the church of St. Nicholas.

The adventurous tourist will find all sorts of activities to do, like diving, windsurfing and riding quads all over the island. You also have the possibility to explore the island by renting scooters/bikes or renting a small boat and find the hidden bays and beaches of the island by sea.

Trogir

Trogir is a city you can talk about all day. Because of its rich history, each rock in the old town has a story and each building is a monument as such. This is the reason that the historical city of Trogir is put on the list of world heritage sites of UNESCO, as a perfect example of urban continuity with a minimum of modern interventions.

Trogir was founded by Greeks and was also ruled by Romans and Venetians which marks you can still find in the city. When walking through the narrow streets of this Mediterranean city, you are taken back in time while looking at the palaces, churches and monasteries from the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods. One of the most impressive buildings in Trogir is the cathedral of St. Lawrence build in the Romanesque-Gothic style.

In Trogir you can find whatever you want and need during your vacation. Lovely restaurants with Dalmatian specialties, little shops with handmade souvenirs, a big market with local products and a lot of options for one-day trips around the region. The nightlife in Trogir is also great as you can enjoy cocktails in numerous bars throughout the city and dance the night away at various nightclubs.

Split

Split is the second-largest city of Croatia with a population of around 200.000 citizens. The city has grown to be a very popular tourist destination. The beginnings of Split start somewhat 1700 years ago, when the Roman Emperor Diocletian had his palace built at Spalatum (the Roman name for Split) in order to retire there one day. The remainings of this palace have made UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites due to the fact that it is one of the best preserved ancient palaces in the world.

Split is recognized as the cultural centre of Croatia. You can find many great museums (Archaeological Museum, Split City Museum), art galleries (Ivan Meštrović Gallery, Gallery of fine arts), theaters (Croatian National Theatre) and cinemas in this city. The cultural highlight of the summer is the Split Summer Festival which includes opera, drama, music and dancing performances.

Split is a great city for shopping as well. Walking around the streets of the old town, you will come across lovely little boutiques and stores where you can find the best clothes and the latest fashion. Split also offers several great public beaches (sandy beach Bačvice and hotspot beach Žnjan) where you can have a coffee with the locals while starring at the magnificent sea view.

Split is truly a combination of social life and an ideal summer destination. You will definitely enjoy the visit to this great city which will make you fall in love with it as soon as you see it. You will for sure want to come back and relive the relaxing atmosphere.
